Best Time To Visit

A Year On The Mountain.

Kilimanjaro can be climbed year-round, but the two dry seasons—January to mid-March and June to October—bring the clearest skies and most comfortable trekking conditions.

Jan – Mar

Warm & Clear

The short dry season brings warm days, clear mornings and fewer climbers than mid-year. Kibo is often dusted with fresh snow—conditions become wetter from late March.

Quieter Climbs
APR — MAY

Long Rains

The wettest months, with heavy rain, muddy rainforest trails and low cloud. Marangu’s huts or the drier northern Rongai route suit experienced, flexible trekkers.

Experienced Trekkers
JUN — OCT

Peak Climbing Season

The long dry season brings stable weather, clear skies and excellent summit views. Nights are coldest at altitude and trails are busiest in July and August.

First-Time Climbers
NOV — DEC

Short Rains

Short afternoon showers return in November and ease through December, leaving lush forests and quieter trails. The festive season gets busier from late December.
