Best Time To Visit

A Year On Mount Kenya.

Mount Kenya has two dry seasons—January to February and late June to October—bringing the clearest skies and firmest trails. The long and short rains make paths muddy and views unpredictable.

JAN — FEB

Warm & Dry

Clear, warm days and the best conditions on the south side of the peaks—prime season for climbing Nelion via Mackinder’s Route.

Nelion Climbers
MAR — MAY

Long Rains

The wettest months, with heavy rain, muddy forest trails and cloud on the summits. Most climbers avoid this season.

Experienced Trekkers
JUN — OCT

Cool Dry Season

Cooler temperatures, stable weather and clear views. With the sun on the north side, Batian’s North Face comes into condition.

Batian & Lenana
NOV — DEC

Short Rains

Afternoon showers return in November and ease through December, leaving green moorland and quieter trails.
